Best Cheap Globe Table Lamp

I am 100% satisfied with my black Bellacor Aries torchiere floor lamp. I like to use standard compact fluorescent bulbs in my lamps vs. incandescent for energy savings. I do not like having to use either the special ring-shaped bulbs that the lamps sold as "fluorescent" use or the special three-way bulbs. The standard ones are cheaper and work in all of my fixtures, so I do not have to keep several different kinds of bulbs around. Because of this, it is important that the lamp take two bulbs so it will be bright enough. It is also important that the lamp not use a dimmer because dimmers do not work well with fluorescent bulbs. The Bellacor Aries takes two bulbs and does not use a dimmer. Instead of a dimmer, the knob-shaped switch has positions for off, one, or both bulbs.The lamp was a bit hard to assemble. Getting the threads of the various sections to line up correctly when you screw them in takes some doing. (In Bellacor's defense, I have had this problem with almost every torchiere lamp I have ever owned.) Nevertheless, within 15 minutes I had the thing put together perfectly straight and firmly tightened, so five stars. (If I could give 4.5, I would, but it deserves the benefit of the doubt since I cannot.)

I ordered two of these lamps. I LOVE them!!! They are super delicate looking but not so that my husband would say "YIKES". They came SUPER quick and were in perfect condition. They look just like the picture!! The only thing I would caution is this; please be careful when putting the metal center piece (inside the paper lamps) in place...mine slipped once and poked a hole through the uber thin paper! With that being said, just be careful and you're SURE to LOVE these lamps!!!

Looks wonderful in our living room. Great buy for the price. I appreciated that other reviewers said to remove plastic inserts from tubes. This made assembly a snap and this information should be included in instructions provided by manufacturers.

Disappointed that product was made in CHINA. Also, the white paint finish on the top of the space shuttle at insertion point through metal was chipped. Quality not what i expected. The night lite aspect is awesome,but had i known the quality, i would not have purchased.

This is really a "floor lamp" as pictured, and not as titled... "table lamp". Beautiful styling & finish. Very heavy and sturdy. Excellent quality! I love it!

They're great in an entertainment room - the slow, smooth lava flow in one of these big lamps is nicely relaxing, and their soft blue-green glow allows you to see your surroundings without distracting from what's on the screen. I love the things... but be aware that they take a while to warm up. The lava can take two or three hours to get fully flowing in these big lamps. Also, it takes several thermal cycles for a new lamp to really get flowing. The first time I turned them on one of my lamps still hadn't bubbled after six hours. I turned it off, let it cool down completely (3+ hours), and turned it on again; within a few hours it was working properly and flows nicely now.

We were looking for an outdoor rated floor lamp to go on a screend porch and this one fits the bill. It is heavy so it won't blow over in a breeze and it appears to be weather resistant as well. The box came with a package slip from Hunter which said that one large washer was supposed to be included although the instructions said nothing about where it was to go. Hunter does not stock these as replacement parts but it does not appear we need one. If we do, we will get it from a hardware store.This lamp is attractive and well made. It's a keeper.

I work with a LOT of LED lights for my concert production work. The LED technology changes every few months. They are making them more powerful and more affordable at a rapid pace. LED lights are not inexpensive but this Philips product is way too expensive for what you get. The link below shows a simple LED bulb and remote control. You can screw the bulb into any light socket and plug it into the wall with no adapter. You don't need a fancy fixture. I have these bulbs and they work very well. NO they are not spotlights but one will color wash a corner or wall if placed correctly. NO they won't color a wall well if the room is lit up by conventional lighting. You would need a lot of lighting horsepower to do that. You have to put some distance between the light and the area you want to color. The farther away the wider the coverage and the less the color intensity. You have to balance the two. You can use several lights for brighter results. The remote will allow the light color to be selected or scroll through a rainbow of colors continually. You can even use the remove to select different colors on each bulb, at the same time. There is no hum or noise with these. I have had mine for several years and have used them on the road for concerts as a small background color wash. Philips has put the technology in an attractive and costly package. It is how a company makes money. I was about to send mine back too after EIGHT HOURS waiting for this thing to work. Here is what you must do: Make sure the little spring wire loop is sitting in the very bottom of the bottle. You can turn and tip the bottle until it sits in the very bottom. Then, make sure the light bulb is centered. If it's not, remove the bulb and bend the light base until centered then replace the bulb. Next, run this beast for a good six hours then, turn it off and let it sit overnight! This will cause the wax to settle down after shipping. It will now work but it will still be different than other Lava lamps as described in the positive review below. After all these years in the business you would think Lava Co. would include better instructions and a description of this lamp's action (it does not look like the picture here, it's more like a storm on Jupiter). I guess they are old stoners over at Lava!

Poor quality, had amazon send me two and every one of them in some way was damaged or defective. They even sent me a replacement and had the same issues... but the lamp looks good if you get a good one!!

You can buy essentially this same lamp at Home Depot and Target for $20. The only difference is that in those lamps the shades are plastic and not glass. IMHO, it's not worth the difference.

Beautiful lamp and conversation piece but the base came a little loose. It wasn't anything that a little glue couldn't fix though.

I bought this for my sister who was floored by it, and she really is very picky about what goes into her home. So to see her light up when we opened up the package was great.Being an internet purchase you're not always sure you made the right call, but this was one of those internet purchases that could not have worked out better.The lamp looks better than the photo here and actually puts out a little more light than you might expect, plus it looks like and has the feel of real bronze. The detail is clean and the lines are perfect I can only imagine what the cost of an original lamp in this design.I have to say by looking you cannot tell it's a Bronze Resin Powder Cast lamp, it looks like a piece from the era and you will get remarks on it. Only problem now is I think I'll be buying one for my desk :)

While amazon made the returns easy, all 3 of the lava lamps received were cloudy. Try and buy this product directly from the company. They did exchange one of the defective ones for one that works.

Very disappointed in this lamp. The shade was tearing away from the frame and glue showing everywhere. Very cheap materials used for this lamp. To top it all off, the shade was crushed inside the box and the base glass broken. Amazon customer was very helpful and accommodating in refunding the purchase.
